Overview of Evidence-based Approaches 

This section of the PROMINENCE OER provides a high-level overview of evidence-based and interprofessional management of obesity. This includes a review of the EASO Framework for the Diagnosis, Staging and Management of Obesity (2024), an infographic that summarises Key Principles
of Management and a link to further reading in the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). 

The remainder of the PROMINENCE resources provide detailed evidence-based and physiotherapy-relevant resources for developing and tailoring communication, assessment, interventions, behaviour change and health promotion for people living with obesity.

Overweight and Obesity Management NICE Guideline - Further Reading

Another source for comprehensive evidence-based guidelines in the management of Obesity is from the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). The 2026 update to the NICE Guidelines can be found here.
