The following recorded presentation and accompanying slides provide an overview of comprehensive physiotherapy history taking with an adult living with obesity.

This includes guidance on gathering a detailed obesity history, medical and surgical history, social
and family history, as well as reviewing physical activity, mobility, and lifestyle behaviours.

The presentation also introduces relevant self-reported outcome measures that can support assessment and clinical decision-making.

While many aspects of history taking with an adult living with obesity will overlap with the general history taking skills you have developed for other clinical populations, this section highlights specific considerations relevant to working with this clinical population.

In particular, it introduces the concept of an obesity-specific history, alongside broader areas such
as medical, surgical, social, and lifestyle histories that remain important across all populations.

The goal is to help you to become competent in tailoring your assessment approach while maintaining
a person-centred and respectful interaction.
