Behaviour Change Models and Theories
Introduction: Health Behaviour and Its Change from a Physiotherapy Perspective
Health behaviour and its change are complex and multifaceted processes influenced by biological, psychological and social factors. In physiotherapy, it is essential to understand the challenges underlying these phenomena, especially when supporting individuals with obesity in making lifestyle changes. The accompanying materials briefly present key models of health behaviour that provide physiotherapists with tools to better understand the challenges related to behaviour change.
These models help to understand the role of motivation, beliefs and environmental factors in health behaviour change, thereby promoting individualised and effective physiotherapy guidance.
